One Word Film

Hi this is my blog! Today I'll tell you about my one word project. This project included making a 1-1 1/2 minute story based on one word. This project was meant to test our skills: editing, shot knowledge, and story telling. My partner and I got the word "awe".

During our brainstorms we thought up a story where a girl is bullied by two girls, getting made fun of by them repeatedly. At one point they corner her in the bathroom. But the "hero" character comes in to help her, saving her from the bullies. The main character ends up being in awe at her kindness.

Here is our brainstorming sheet we used to organize our thoughts.

Our storyboard helped pre-visualize out project as it gave us a guide to follow when we were filming the shots. The storyboard especially came in handy because many of our shots had to be filmed out of order so whenever we would get lost or confused we would consult it to keep us on the right track.

The software we used to edit our One Word Film was i-movie. I have experimented with both i-movie and adobe up until this point and can say that I much prefer adobe as it is much more high tech. I-movie is more beginner friendly but once I got out of that stage I transitioned over to adobe.

During the making of this project, I think we could have gotten smoother transition shots for different perspectives. When I watch a movie or a clip, I barley process all the cuts happening in such a short time, so having to be aware of each and every one was a weird experience. The transition shots could have been less obvious then we made them. However, I do think that we did a good job depicting emotion through out shots. Each close up or pan was intentional towards what we wanted the view to feel, and I think we executed that well.

Here's my project! Remember our one word was "Awe"
