Project summary

Hey happy people, after having a very insightful group meeting with my peers and a long discussion with my partner, I finally have a clear vision of how this opening will look. I also feel more confident about it and I'm excited to get down to dirty business! Are you comfortable with me saying dirty business? If not I don't care cause its my blog.

Project Summary

It begins with our character interacting with her computer: calling her friend, opening text messages, doing homework, and checking social media. This part will not last long. 20-30 seconds. It's meat to tell us more about our character and will also foreshadow our villain- the technology/AI. While on her computer, she gets a notification from her ring camera telling her that someone is there. She opens it up, but it shows no one there. She tells her friend that shell be there soon, goes to leave, but goes back because she forgot something. When she tries to enter her house, she struggles with the door until it mysteriously creaks open. She tries to call her Mom but she's interrupted by random pieces of technology in her house going off. As she’s freaking out about the sudden racket we see her from the perspective of her computer- her mother is now trying to call her. She doesn’t realize this as she slowly backs away from the kitchen and runs out the room.

Some main inspirations for the film opening are movies like

These movies all helped us in developing our openings. Scream has a sets up the tension perfectly throughout its opening with sound and visuals, giving us inspiration to have the sudden jump scare of the technology in the characters house going off. Nerve inspired my partner and I to have the scene where she's facetiming her friend and has multiple things going on at once on her computer. When it comes to the ring, we liked the very end of the opening that has very quick zoom in on their character and quick shots to communicate her possession by the creature in the T.V.
