Group Meeting #1

"There is no team without eam" -me

My instructor put us into groups with people from other projections so that we could get feedback and discuss what we had on our projections so far. Here are some notes I took:

Christian: thriller friends look in a bag and are mesmerized by it

Avery: drama or thrillervery high school based on a cheerleader

Ethan: sci-fi, stop motion. Astronaut goes into space and is stranded OR two astronauts are in space and fixing something. Lighting is a problem. Using a toy called stickbot for main character

Samuel:

Selina: horror/thriller where girl is either being chase or is oblivious to threatening letters

Meliyahdrama where sister dies in a car crash but the main character still feels her

Sonakshipsychological horro

 Reflection:

This group meeting was actually way more insightful than I thought it was going to be. We went around to each person asking them their genre and a general idea of their opening story. The ones that caught my attention the most was Meliyah’s and Ethan’s. Meliyah originally said her story was a thriller about a girl who's sister dies in a car crash. Though after hearing more of her story, the group told her it was more of a drama than a thriller because of how emotional it sounded. I also told her some ideas I thought would be cool on how to show the sister is dead, like having car crash sounds play throughout the opening credits then cutting to the main character reminiscing on her sister in her room. Ethan is doing a very unique idea, he is doing  stop motion sci-fi about astronauts. It sounds like he has experience so I trust that he will come out with something well done. When I explained my psychological thriller everyone was very supportive and said that it was a different idea from what most people with the thriller genre were doing (because I told them I was worried about being to basic as A LOT of people are doing thriller/horror). They gave me good ideas on how to make it clear that the technology was the “villain” in the story. For example, I could have a shot of an Alexa or Google Home with a voice over of them saying something.... evil. They also gave me the idea of having the opening credits be text messages or something embedded in technology. Overall, they made me feel way more confident about my project compared to how I felt before the meeting.
