One of the Media theories I think fits into my opening is the Action Code. This code describes a plot point or points that lead to other actions and make audiences wonder what could come next. This applies to the part of my story where all the electronics in my character's house is going off and she feels endangered by the sudden noise. The viewer truly does not know what's going to happen next but can make the assumption that the protagonist is in trouble. This code can come in many tones: exciting, thrilling, scary, etc. But for this sequence we are obviously going for scary, a kind of jump scare if I do say so myself.
